Coastal Foundation Solutions was recently contacted to provide exceptional foundation support for a Southwest Florida residence that was effected from Hurricane Ian in 2022.
With a need for immense support, our team suggested and ultimately installed underpinned helical pile configurations to provide foundation for an existing stem wall. Underpinning is a method where helical piles are installed below the foundation into the ground until they hit soils or lime rock that are strong enough to support the stem wall.
Our team installed 10 underpinning helical piles at varied depths ranging from 14 feet to 35 feet. Once installed, these piles were secured to the stem wall of the residence to provide support to the residence using galvanized underpinning brackets. Per engineering, helical piles shall be attached to the existing concrete foundation with galvanized brackets bolted into the concrete foundation with hot dipped galvanized concrete anchors. The foundation brackets shall be friction seated to the concrete footing element in strict accordance with engineer’s recommendations and specific guidelines.
