Bokeelia Foundation Repair

Coastal Foundation Solutions Delivers Engineered Restoration After Hurricane Damage

Rebuilding Resilience: Underpinning & Seawall Repair in Bokeelia, Florida

When waterfront homes suffer, foundations demand more than a patch—they require engineering expertise rooted in decades of coastal experience. That’s exactly what we brought to this residential foundation and seawall repair project in Bokeelia, a coastal community near Bonita Springs, FL.

At Coastal Foundation Solutions, we specialize in structural repair and marine stabilization throughout Southwest Florida, from Fort Myers to Naples, delivering all-in-one solutions built to last.

Project Overview

  • Location: Bokeelia, Bonita Springs, Florida
  • Service Type: Foundation Underpinning + Seawall Structural Repair
  • Client: Private Coastal Property Owner
  • Completion: July 2024
  • Contractor: Coastal Foundation Solutions

Background: What Happened in Bokeelia?

Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Ian (2022), many coastal homes in Bokeelia faced severe foundation displacement and seawall degradation. In this case, the home was experiencing foundation sliding and a visibly failing seawall—an extremely high-risk situation for any structure adjacent to open water.

The homeowner’s engineer brought in Coastal Foundation Solutions to assess and implement a long-term solution. This required an expert approach:

  • Stabilize the compromised foundation
  • Restore seawall function
  • Prevent future erosion
  • Preserve the surrounding coastal ecosystem

Our Dual-Solution Approach

  1. Foundation Underpinning
We began by installing 14 helical underpinning piles with 27 galvanized extensions, reaching stable soil strata beneath the eroded base. These piles were torque-monitored in real-time to confirm adequate bearing capacity, without impacting neighboring properties. The underpinning system immediately halted structural movement, returning the foundation to stability.

  2.  Seawall Structural Repair
We then reinforced the seawall using a marine erosion guard system:
    • One-foot-wide vinyl erosion guard panels were applied over panel joints
    • Installed 12″ below the mudline and extending up to 12″ beneath the seawall cap
    • Added five hydrostatic pressure relief filters to reduce soil stress and control water pressure

This comprehensive repair strategy ensures the long-term integrity of both the home and shoreline.

Results & Client Feedback

The results were immediate and measurable:

  • Foundation movement fully stabilized
  • Seawall stress and erosion dramatically reduced
  • Minimal disturbance to the environment
  • Homeowner satisfaction: “Professional, efficient, and built to last.”

This project reflects our commitment and experience where real-world engineering meets high-quality repair technology.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is underpinning necessary for waterfront homes in Florida?

Underpinning stabilizes foundations impacted by erosion, shifting soils, or flood damage. In coastal areas like Bokeelia, it’s essential for long-term structural security.

They seal seawall seams below the waterline, blocking sediment loss and preventing the formation of sinkholes near the wall.
Seawall filters relieve hydrostatic pressure behind the wall. This prevents structural failure caused by trapped water during storms or tidal cycles.
Yes. We follow all DEP and local regulations, using minimal-disturbance techniques and eco-conscious materials to protect sensitive shorelines.
This project took just under one week including engineering review, mobilization, and installation.
