ANALYSIS

Throughout Southwest Florida, Coastal Foundation Solutions is widely regarded as the area’s leading installer of helical pile applications, along with unique foundation stabilization solutions. When Hurricane Ian devastated the coastal town of Matlacha, our company stepped in to help clean up and rebuild our backyard. Since the storm we have provided foundation support to most of the Southwest Florida towns effected by the storm.

Like many others, this project entailed a need for foundation support where an existing support column had failed. In addition, the current seawall was to be inspected, anchored, and protected. Once contracted, our team went to work providing agile support for the project.

SOLUTION

After analyzing the property and project requirements, our team devised a plan to install a combination of underpinning piles and tieback anchors to provide exceptional foundation support. Additionally, the seawall was also inspected and prepared for the appropriate seam repairs.

RESULT

We installed 2 underpinning piles to aid in the support of an aluminum column that had failed. One helical underpinning pile was attached to the existing concrete foundation where said column had failed, while the other was placed adjacent to where the pool pump fills the residence’s existing swimming pool. Our team installed these piles using specialized equipment while minimizing site disruption. 7 tieback anchors were also installed to a depth of 14 feet to provide support and increase the longevity of the existing tieback system.

The property’s existing seawall received 5 seam repairs along with a marine erosion guard system placed over the seawall’s panel joints. These guards will serve as a barrier to reduce the overall washouts and prevent future sinkholes from reoccurring.
